No signs, no symptoms, no babies if left untreated

What are the symptoms?

What are the symptoms?

Many people have no obvious symptoms. But,

25% of women and 50% of men do develop symptoms from 1-3 weeks after coming into contact with Chlamydia.

It’s important to get screened, even if you feel fine and have no symptoms – just to make sure. If you do get symptoms you might notice:

In women

  • Unusual vaginal discharge
  • Pain and/or burning when peeing
  • Pain during and/or after sex
  • Bleeding after sex or between periods
  • Lower abdominal pain (pain in the lower belly)

In men

  • A discharge from the tip of the penis
  • Pain and/or burning when weeing
  • Irritation at the tip of the penis
  • Painful swelling of the testicles

It’s confidential and no-one will even know you’ve asked for a test.

I haven’t any symptoms and I feel fine. Do I really need to get tested?

Yes! You should have a test if you’ve ever been sexually active

Getting tested is a very responsible thing to do and is a sign that you value yourself and your health.
